Details of Khawaja Muhammad Asif
Khawaja Muhammad Asif (born August 9, 1949 in Sialkot) was the Pakistani Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, with additional portfolio of Sports Ministry in the PM Yousaf Raza Gillani cabinet. He is politically affiliated the center-right party PML-N. He is renowned for his oratory skills and denunciation of military intervention in the political domain.
In the 2008 general election, he was elected for the fourth term as a member of the National Assembly on PML-N's ticket. He was previously elected as an MNA for in the years 1993, 1997 and 2002. He also served as a senator during years 1990-1993. In the Nawaz Sharif cabinet of 1997-1999, Khawaja Asif held the portfolio of Chairman Privatisation Commission, with the status of a federal minister.
Hassan Abbas in his book Pakistan's Drift Into Extremism claims that during the Nawaz Sharif government, General Pervez Musharraf informed Shahbaz Sharif, Nawaz's brother and the then chief minister of Punjab and Nisar Ali Khan, an influential cabinet member that some politicians including Khawaja Asif were advising Sharif to remove General Musharraf as the army chief. Asif rejected these claims, but the reconciliation with Musharraf was proved late, as the General overthrew Sharif ahead of time.
The row with General Musharraf in particular and Army leadership in general again surfaced in the budgetary sessions of 2006-07, when two videos of Khawaja Asif appeared on the internet challenging and rebuking the military regimes of the country.
Khawaja Asif is the son of Khawaja Muhammad Safdar, an active politician of the Pakistan Movement. A businessman and a banker by profession, he received B.A/L.L.B degrees from University of the Punjab in 1970. He is married with a son and three daughters.

What does Kh Asif mean by 'Hamari Quam' is he referring to the privileged class? While I abhor Siraj Ul Haq's party's philosophy of exploiting religion for politic ends, he has a point. The country's leadership is tainted with corruption and come what may these few families are always in power. And their claim of going to jail carries no weight. These chaps do not see the rough end of life in jail and they are given preferential treatment during their stay in jail. The present turmoil is the result of years of neglect and exploitation of the masses. The country's leadership has the singular honor of skimming of the national resources and playing Mr Clean. The Taliban have exploited this discontent among the victimized masses and is playing it up. The common man wants justice and law that is uniformly applicable every citizen. Its as simple as that- dummies. Return the stolen wealth to the masses.

I have no hope from sherif brothers at all. they are popular but not leader worthy for us. leaders do not leave country for personal sake. sherif family and benezir should have stayed in Pakistan and challenged dictatorship of pervez musharaf and save Pakistanis from affects of war 'for' terror. but these so called 'leaders' only live in Pakistan when they are in power. pml(n) should ask forward block mpas to resign from their ppml(q) membership & contest on pml(n) tickets in by election. considering exceptional popularity of pml(n) after restoration of ch. iftikhar, these mpas can easily won their seats again. why pml(n) not sets a good democratic example for future? but hopes are fainted from pml(n) 'leadership'.

PML(N) is hypocrite as well, as they said before elections that they will not take anyone from Musharaff`s group but later on they gave their ticket to a person who was Law minister in Musharaff's regime.

I think its better to find some other way to restore Cheif justice because they'll come up with another BAHANA again. At least he'll be back in the seat and end of the way the govt. has to ratify PCO of 3rd november becoz its a constitutional requirement.
