Mushahid Hussain Syed is a Pakistani politician who is the current General Secretary of the center-right Pakistan Muslim League (Q).

Mushahid Hussain Syed has served in the cabinet as federal minister of information from 1997 to 1999 in the Nawaz Sharif government. He was elected to the Senate of Pakistan in 2003 and is Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He was also selected the Secretary General of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q), Pakistan's predominant political party. Mushahid at age 29 was the youngest editor of a major newspaper, the Muslim (now closed), published from Islamabad, Pakistan.

Mushahid Hussain Syed led Pakistan's delegation to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights on at Geneva. Amnesty International in 1999 declared Mushahid as a Prisoner of conscience. Released in December 2000, Mushahid had been held in detention for 440 days.

Mushahid Hussain was nominated by Pakistan Muslim League (Q) as their candidate for President of Pakistan.

He lost the Pakistani presidential election, 2008 to Asif Ali Zardari, who was elected President of Pakistan.

hi Very good program. I wonder if the lives of billions of innocent people is decided by some leaders in foreign countries. I m an Indian, but i don't think that we(Indians and Pakistanis) should blame Americans or any other nation. If our people wont go and talk to them or if the decisions are made on the basis of personal gains in the politics rather than the welfare of the nation, we cannot progress with other important issues such as poverty, health, educations and so on...Both nations are spending billions of making nuclear arms(irrespective to who made first and so on), why not generate electricity with that and light up our cities and villages. I feel like that these politicians of both countries should not be given cars, servants and stuff, they should be given a bicycle and a stick to protect themselves. no body guards and an army of cars to protect themselves. and their kids should be doing jobs in the police to protect the common public. Only then they will equip the police with the modern weapons. Nations fight and politicians rule. Once they win the elections they are out of touch from the common public and then they go to foreign countries and decide the fate of billions for their own personal gains. How can they people be so cold that their hearts don't bleed when they see their policemen in Lahore and Mumbai and all over the countries get killed and here they are fighting with each other. But at the end, can we really blame them? after all its us, the public, who have elected them. When will public be strong enough to get to the streets just after politicians make mistakes for the first time. I think there should be laws for the behavior and performance of politicians and they should be locked up if they mistakes so they know what are they getting into before they rob the common public.

I have always had high respect for Mushahid and his assessment of our Political scene. He is amongst very few politicians in Pakistan who when speak, you can feel an iota of truth in what he says. As an outsider & a Pakistani, whose heart bleeds with our situation, I believe he can play more important role in construction of Pakistan. Probably he has to be more assertive in what he does? His affiliation with PML(Q) is a surprise for me, especially the reputation this party carries under the leadership of Chaudry brothers. I think he is better than that. I wonder why is he still with PML(Q) & what will make him leave?

Mushahid is an intelligent man but he was interrupting Yaswant Sinha alot and were not able to give any satisfactory reply to Sinha , when asked if America attack on you with drones , Pakistan doesn''t reply or stop America and is afraid from America. He should said that India is not next to Afghanistan where 26 nations of the world are fighting against Taliban. India did not fought a War against Soviet Union for 10 years.
